It’s a brand new era for Spark+Echo Arts.
We have a new online platform that’s all about you, our community of patrons and artists. There are 31,102 verses in the Bible, and we are going to work together to illuminate every one over the next twelve years.
Along the way you will experience the Bible like never before: you’ll hear a verse suddenly come alive, you’ll be a part of the creative process as amazing artists wrestle with Scripture before your eyes… all of this, thousands of times over. This is a truly one-of-a-kind, giant, never-been-done-before project, and you’re going to be at the heart of it!
Every month you, our patron, will get five “Sparks”. Sparks are like currency, a vote, a boost, a way to say, “I want to see this verse illuminated next…maybe with theater, or dance, or a string quartet… maybe by this artist.” You can also use your sparks to give a boost to a work in progress. Let an artist know that you like their concept for a work and encourage them along the way.
If you’re not already a Spark+Echo patron, sign up at Patreon.com/SparkandEchoarts. We have spots reserved for 2,000 patrons that will shape this project. You decide what amount feels right to you. $1 a month, $5 a month, $20… You can change your amount or stop at any time.

What’s a Spark?
As a Spark+Echo patron, every month you get a five “Sparks” to use on an unilluminated verse or a work in progress. “Sparks” are like currency, a vote, or a boost, a way to say, “I want to see this verse illuminated next” or “I love what this artist is doing, I want to encourage them to continue.”
Illuminating the entire Bible is a huge community effort, and sparks are the way we all shape this project and have fun along the way.
How do I get Sparks?
Go to Sparkandecho.org and click login. Use your login from Patreon.com to login here. If you aren’t already a Spark+Echo patron on Patreon, then sign up! What are you waiting for? Every month you will get five sparks that will show up next to your user image when you are logged in at SparkandEcho.org. Remember, you have to use your sparks every month or they vanish! How do I spark a verse?
When you click on any unilluminated verse on the site, it will ask you if you want to spark that verse. When you spark, be sure to leave a comment saying what’s interesting to you about the verse, or how you imagine an artist might illuminate it. The verses that have the most sparks and the most great ideas will get illuminated the fastest. You will get credit as the first or most active “sparker” of a verse. This is the big break you’ve been waiting for!
How do I spark a work in progress?
Many artists are creating works for Spark+Echo right now! Works-in-progress will show up attached to certain verses. If you see a work-in-progress or an artist that you are excited about, click on the work and select “Spark This Illumination” and leave a comment. Your spark will help the artist continue creating and give more prominence to the finished product.
Can I spark myself into becoming an artist for Spark+Echo?
Why not? If you are a patron and an artist with an idea for a verse, you are are welcome to spark that verse and suggest yourself. Be sure to also visit our Artist Application page and apply to our team of curators with work samples and your idea. Our team will reach out to you if we would like to commission you to create something new for the project.
