Scripture

Genesis 3:6

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

From the Artist

This piece is intended to represent the moment of the beginning of sin. The forbidden fruit represented by a blood orange (In contrast to the popular thought that it was specifically an apple) spills its juices on barren earth, bringing to mind Jesus’ blood that stained the ground in order to bring redemption to the earth. Pairs of feet pointing in opposite directions surrounded by failed attempts at covering show the broken relationships brought by selfishness, rebellion, and pride.

My primary desire as an artist is to reflect the Christian idea of redemption (one I personally experience) through finding, revealing and expressing value in what has been otherwise considered trash, worthless, useless, or despised.
