Curator Bio: Chris Cragin-Day

Chris Cragin-Day (Theatre) holds an MFA in Theater from Baylor University and a BA in Theater from Oklahoma Baptist University. She is an alumna of The Public Theater’s Emerging Writer’s Group (where her play The River Nun, was presented in the 2009 EWG Spotlight Series) and the O’Neill National Music Theater Conference (where her musical, Son of a Gun, .co-written with Don Chaffer of Waterdeep, was workshopped and presented). Most recently her play, Martin Luther on Trial, (commissioned by and developed with Max McLean) was presented in NYC by Fellowship of the Performing Arts. Other recent New York productions include THE SELFISH GIANT, a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s fairy tale co-written with Michael Castillejos, SON OF A GUN co-written with Don and Lori Chaffer, and EMILY, produced by Firebone Theatre, L&M and MILKING SUCCESS, at the Nuyorican Poets Café, and THEY KNOW SOMETHING WE DON’T and DIG at Horse Trade Theater. SON OF A GUN was also presented at Joe’s Pub and Playwright’s Horizons (hosted by The Drama League), and was a finalist for the Richard Rogers Award. Upcoming productions include her musical, The Unusual Tale of Mary and Joseph’s Baby, co-written with Don Chaffer, at River and Rail Theater.

Chris’s work has been presented by Burning Coal Theater, The Civilians, The Public, Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, No Passport Theater, Fellowship for the Performing Arts, Acacia Theater, the Keller Theater, Art Within Theater, Firebone Theatre, NJ One-Minute Play Festival, the South East Theater Conference, Baylor University, Azusa Pacific University, and Garner Webb University. Chris has received commissions from Pacific Theater, Fellowship of the Performing Arts, Spark and Echo Arts, and ArtWithin. Chris and her husband, Steve Day, are founding members of Firebone Theatre.
